Since 1996, Tom has been a Trustee and Treasurer of the Board at Stevenson University (Stevenson, Maryland). Stevenson combines academic excellence with career preparation to equip students with the skills necessary to achieve excellence, engage in lifelong learning, and become responsible members of the global community.
Between 1999 and 2009, Stevenson doubled full-time undergraduate enrollment to nearly 3,000 students and transformed facilities from a single campus commuter college to a two campus university with 2,000 resident students.
In the 2010 “America’s Best Colleges” edition, U.S. News & World Report ranked Stevenson as one of two “Top Up & Coming Schools” in the northern region of baccalaureate colleges and 11th among comprehensive bachelor’s degree programs in the northern region.
